Texas Woman Told to Remove 'Offensive' American Flag From Office
Debbie McLucas comes from a patriotic family – her husband and both of her sons served in the U.S. military, and her daughter is currently deployed to Iraq on her second tour of duty as a combat medic.
So when McLucas arrived at work at a Texas hospital last Friday, she was stunned to be told that the Stars and Stripes she had hung in her office in advance of Memorial Day were offensive, and that the flag had been removed.
“I got into work, I was met by my supervisor and told that there had been multiple complaints, that people found the flag very offensive and it had been taken down," McLucas told FOXNews.com.
"I went to the office to retrieve it and found the flag wrapped around the pole, sitting in the corner on the ground. I was speechless."
McLucas, a supervisor at Kindred Hospital in Mansfield, Texas, had displayed the 3-by-5-foot flag in the office she shares with the hospital’s three other supervisors. McLucas said one of her colleagues, a woman who immigrated to the United States from Africa 14 years ago, complained about the flag to upper management, and the hospital decided to take down the flag.
"I was told that as long as my flag offended one person, it would be taken down," McLucas said.
She said the hospital told her that the American flag flying outside the building would have to suffice. "I was told, ‘There is a flag hanging out front, everyone can see that one. Is that not enough?’"
No, she said, that wasn't enough.
"It is more than I can even fathom, that you would find the American flag offensive, in America," McLucas said.
A Kindred Health care spokeswoman did not return calls for comment. Kindred issued a press release stating, “Kindred Hospital Mansfield has a great deal of appreciation for the service that many of our employees and their families have given to their country. We honor our veterans and active military through a variety of benefits and service programs. This was an isolated incident between two employees that we are working to resolve amicably.”
The statement went on to explain: “The disagreement was over the size of the flag and not what it symbolized. We have invited the employee to put the flag back up.”
And it will go back up and stay up, McLucas said.
"I do think they're trying to do the right thing. I have no reason to believe the flag won't remain there as long as I'm employed."
This story is disgusting. The immigrant that complained has a real nerve and if I was the one with the flag, I would of sued her ass. How dare this unwanted usurper of an immigrant complain about the American Flag. If she doesn't like our flag or our country then she is free to leave and probably should not of been allowed to come here in the first place.
Now I am not some flag waving patriot, but I do have respect for my country and our flag. I am very anti-immigration. Which is very unpopular to be these days. People like me according to a government document are terrorists. I kid you not, in one of many documents to police departments across the country, it says people that are anti-immigration could be terrorists. With all of the criminal activity going on in the higher levels of government, it is amazing that this article even effects me at all. But as a real patriot and a true American in the spirit of our founding fathers I find what this immigrant did offensive and terrible. I am sure there are many of us that would love to take this African woman and her family out of this country. How dare she complain about our flag. She is welcome to go back to Africa where she could enjoy all the rape and murder that takes place on a daily basis to women like her. This lady deserves to be deported. Maybe she thinks her native country full of rape and murder is a lot better than America. This bitch is welcome to leave.
Illegal immigrants and immigrants themselves are too much of a burden on a country that cannot even take care of its own born and bred people. Illegals bankrupt our health care system and make it so even people with insurance cannot get into some low income doctor because they are all filled up with illegal patients. They take our jobs, stick to their own kind and do absolutely nothing good for the rest of us. Even if they open up some restaurant, they only hire their own kind. This practice infuriates me and is widespread. Instead of giving American's jobs, they import the rest of their extended family to work in their businesses.
I want to make it clear that it is not 100 percent of immigrants that do this. There are some great men and women that come here and help Americans get jobs. Unfortunately there are more immigrants that dont hire Americans then there are that do. I for one am sick and tired of illegals and legal immigrants taking this country away from the ones that were born here. When I read an article like this, it infuriates me. How dare that African woman complain about an American Flag in someones private office. The woman should be fired and deported. I am sure she would enjoy being raped and assualted back in Africa, since Africa is so much more unoffensive than America. Get out of here and dont let the door hit you in the ass on the way out!
