Hostage Calm--Connecticut Hardcore

Hostage Calm is one of the best bands CT has to offer. Though officially they are a hardcore band, people into other genres would be into them. The band got together in the summer of 2007 after the break up of At All Costs. At All Costs was a very unique and special band featuring the same lineup as Hostage Calm but with some added horn players. It was one of the only bands I ever heard that played true hardcore with horns added in. Ska is the genre that most people think of when you put punkrock and horn together. At All Costs were not a ska band. They were doing something completely new and different with hardcore. It is a shame they ended just as they were getting wide spread recognition. But that is also what makes them even more special and what fuels the fire in Hostage Calm.
Hostage Calm has released one of the best demos of 2007. They play a sweet mix of hardcore, punkrock and pop punk with emotionally and spiritually charged political lyrics. 2008 will bring the release of Hostage Calm's first record on Redscroll Records, a local CT label and record store. Above are a series of pictures I took at a show in New York City the 4th of January 2008. Be sure to check out their myspace page to download their demo. The At All Costs demo is also up for download at http://www.myspace.com/atallcostsct.

Past Life Regression
I have always had dreams as a kid that led me to believe at an early age that I had been on the planet before in a different body. Most of my dreams were about World War 1 and World War 2. I had also had dreams about shooting up heroin as a little kid and this was way before I even knew what heroin or any drug was. Whenever someone hears the truth about anything in general, a feeling wells up inside of you and for some reason you know it to be true. Well this is how I felt when i realized that my dreams had to do with past lives. Those 2 words were like the bells of truth being rung throughout my body.
This is a painting of my spirit, what I look like when I am not in a body.

The original drawing of my spirit was done by a spiritual master. This painting is my rendition of his drawing of my spirit. Notice my aura is purple, light blue and orange.
I am working on a bunch of books and scripts based on my past lives. Of course in some of it I will be taking artistic liberties with content but the basic principal and story will be based on my truth as I see it.
I look forward to sharing them with the world.
If you have cable TV and particularly the channel Turner Classic Movies (TCM), there is a mini-documentary about me that is running in between the movies that they show for the entire month of November. After November, the piece will run a few times a month for as long as the channel exists. Hopefully someday I can put the video up on here. If you have that channel, please look for it.
Until next time, be good to yourselves and each other cuz karma is a bitch!

Signal Lost in Seattle.

Signal Lost is a female fronted hxc/punk band from Austin Texas. They definitly fit in with other great bands from that area, though the only one with female vox, their music grabs you and throws you on the dance floor. In other words-it is fucking good! Lead singer Ashley's vocals are incredible and remind me of a punker more political version of the late Mia Zapata of the band The Gits. (If you never heard of The Gits, please goto www.thegits.com.)
Anyway, I first heard of the band from an issue of Maximum rock and roll. After I moved to Seattle I found their first CD, Children of the Wasteland, at a thrift store for a dollar. I was seriously stoked that day.
Since then the band has released a second full length on Prank Records. You can hear some of the music of that album, a 7 inch and their first cd at www.myspace.com/signallost.
I hung out with the band during their 2 day stop in Seattle. Both nights were mad fun and at two of the greatest DIY spots in town. They were even better live! I highly recomend this band if you are into good music in general. Signal Lost's members are part of a great family of texas bands that include: Severed Head of State, Deathreat, World Burns to Death, Spazm 151 and others.
