Hostage Calm--Connecticut Hardcore

Hostage Calm is one of the best bands CT has to offer. Though officially they are a hardcore band, people into other genres would be into them. The band got together in the summer of 2007 after the break up of At All Costs. At All Costs was a very unique and special band featuring the same lineup as Hostage Calm but with some added horn players. It was one of the only bands I ever heard that played true hardcore with horns added in. Ska is the genre that most people think of when you put punkrock and horn together. At All Costs were not a ska band. They were doing something completely new and different with hardcore. It is a shame they ended just as they were getting wide spread recognition. But that is also what makes them even more special and what fuels the fire in Hostage Calm.

Hostage Calm has released one of the best demos of 2007. They play a sweet mix of hardcore, punkrock and pop punk with emotionally and spiritually charged political lyrics. 2008 will bring the release of Hostage Calm's first record on Redscroll Records, a local CT label and record store. Above are a series of pictures I took at a show in New York City the 4th of January 2008. Be sure to check out their myspace page to download their demo. The At All Costs demo is also up for download at http://www.myspace.com/atallcostsct.
